Study Finnish from the comfort of your home.

“Hanna is a motivated Finnish language teacher, the way she teaches Finnish online is unique, encouraging, and stress free. I had many Finnish courses before taking online lessons with Hanna, but I think what Hanna taught me during less than just 20 hours, was more practical than all the other courses. P.S. Don’t miss reading her blog if you’re planning to learn Finnish.” - Nick, Iran

My name is Hanna Männikkölahti. I’m a native Finn and a professional Finnish teacher. I earned my Master’s Degree from the University of Jyväskylä, and I’ve worked as a Finnish teacher since 2001. I have taught in different schools and also at the university level, but now I’m really enjoying my freedom as an entrepreneur.

In addition to private teaching, I also simplify novels into easy Finnish, lecture about easy Finnish and write a blog called Random Finnish Lesson.

I am married and I have two children. My family is bilingual, and both Finnish and English are used at home. I am very interested in multilingualism and language learning in general.

During my free time, I sing in a mixed pop choir called Kipinät and play with my dog.

I live Jyväskylä, but I teach online all over the world. You can study in the comfort of your home, or anywhere you want to be.

I usually teach via Zoom, Skype or Whereby, and use Google Docs to share and edit documents.

With a private teacher, you can study anything that you want and need, using any material that is suitable for you. Most of my students take private lessons, but I can also teach small groups.

I prefer teaching between 7.30 and 15.30 Finnish time. (EEST, UTC+3)

I charge 90 euros for a 45 minute session. The 24 % VAT is included in the price. I don't charge for cancelled or forgotten lessons.

I usually send a bill after three sessions, and my students can pay me through online banking or Paypal. Remember to ask if your employer would pay for the lessons!

If you are interested, fill in the following form and let’s set up the first meeting. You can book the next session after our meeting, or email me later.

Unfortunately, I cannot take new students until February. Meanwhile, you can read my easy Finnish novels or sign up for an intensive course in Jyväskylä.

Starting in February, these regular times are available:

  • Every other Monday at 9.00

  • Mondays at 10.00, 11.00 or 12.00

  • Thursdays at 12.00, 13.00 or 14.00
