About Hanna Männikkölahti – Private Finnish Teacher
I’m a professional Finnish teacher based in Jyväskylä, Finland. I have a master’s degree from the University of Jyväskylä, and I’ve been teaching Finnish since 2001. Over the years, I’ve worked in schools, summer courses, and university settings. Today, I work as a full-time entrepreneur, teaching private online Finnish lessons to students around the world. I truly enjoy the flexibility and personal connection online teaching allows.

In addition to private lessons, I adapt novels and non-fiction books into easy Finnish, give lectures and workshops on easy Finnish, write a blog called Random Finnish Lesson, teach intensive courses, assess the YKI exams​ and organize workshop weekends for fellow Finnish teachers.​ In 2021, I was honored to be named Finnish Teacher of the Year. You can buy my books directly from me, and you can also participate in an online course based on the 'Juurihoito' novel.​​​

​I am married and have two teenagers (currently aged 14 and 16). Our home is bilingual and we speak both Finnish and English daily.
In my free time, I enjoy singing in a choir, staying active through regular exercise, and studying languages.

Studying Finnish with a private online teacher
​​​I teach via Google Meet or Zoom, using Google Docs to take notes and share materials with my students. My teaching hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Finnish time (Eastern European Time, UTC+2 in winter / UTC+3 in summer), but evening lessons are also possible. In-person study is available in Jyväskylä and occasionally in Helsinki.
Payments can be made via online banking, Wise, or PayPal. I don’t charge for cancelled lessons. Check with your employer to see if they reimburse lesson fees! My business ID is 2198670-2.
